During their ISO 5011 testing, S&B first measures the restriction
of the air flow through your vehicles original induction system
in order to establish a baseline. The goal of a Performance Intake
Kit is to reduce the restriction of the airflow to your vehicle's
engine to allow the engine to "breath" easier. By reducing
the restriction of the airflow, your engine will have better throttle
response and produce more horsepower and torque. Since your engine
will not have to work as hard to produce the required amount of
power - the result is better fuel economy.

Certified Test Results
S&B provides ISO 5011 Certified Test Results for it's intake
kits, so you can see exactly how much the airflow was improved as
well as the efficiency of the filter.
For example: The S&B
Intake Kit for the '02 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins Diesel has 46.8% less
restriction than the OE system, while maintaining 99.90% filter
efficiency versus the OE filters efficiency rating of 99.44%.
Another example would
be The S&B Intake Kit for the 05-06 Chevy Silverado 5.3L V8
gas engine, which has 28.1% less restriction than the OE system
and maintains a 99.39% filter efficiency versus the stock filters
99.27% efficiency rating.
